• Special Effects Failure: Tokuno's 3D modeled-backgrounds are generally done well, but sometimes he neglects to give the background objects enough of a bevel.^note  "Beveling" means to break a sharp edge down into more gradual edges to simulate a rounded corner, which otherwise is not possible with vertex-based models. A particularly egregious example happens in the first chapter, when Ibuki and Mimi meet at the convenience store. The large machine between them only has about four edges per corner, making it look extremely blocky and low-poly. And since it's literally right next to their eyes and spans the entire length of their eyeline, it's extremely noticable.
