• Demonic Spiders: Ice Goblins. Their attacks are hard to dodge and can freeze you for several seconds. A single Ice Goblin can send you from full health to dead in an instant if you're being swarmed.
• Overshadowed by Controversy: The game attracted some negative attention in February 2020 when the CEO of Panic Art Studios went on a racist rant on Twitter, threatening to invest in killing as many immigrants as possible and going as far as calling it his life mission from then on, which was followed by him deleting his personal account. An apology message posted on the PAS Twitter page, explaining it as "drunken rage" didn't help, especially with the deletion of the message and the account going protected shortly afterwards.
• That One Boss:
  • For a brief time following the DLC, Kayo the Sapling was this, due to a bug causing his rotating skull barriers to do up to 5 times their normal damage. This was thankfully quickly fixed.
  • Annie was always a bit of a pain due to her erratic movements, deceptively huge healthpool, and her tendency to constantly show up in dungeons and crypts, where mobility is limited. However, after the May 2013 patches, which significantly beefed up the damage for enemy projectiles, she's become one of the hardest bosses in the game.
