YMMV / Hawkeye (2012)

Go To

  • Awesome Art: David Aja won two Eisners for the series, and all you have to do is read a page to see why. Far from the realistic-skewing "house" art styles you'll find in Marvel, Hawkeye's art style is minimalist, indie-inspired, and eye-catchingly stylish. Combined with some of the most brilliant visual storytelling the medium has to offer (including the dialogue-minimal adventures of Lucky the Pizza Dog of issue #11 and the ASL-dependent issue #19), Aja's work manages to be comprehensive yet effortless all at once.
  • Better on DVD: Hawkeye wasn't quite written for the trade, but many readers consider their re-ordered arrangements to be much smoother than how they were orignally released.
    • Volume 2 opens with issue #7, which chronologically takes place before issue #6.
    • As of issue 14, the series begins alternating between Kate and Clint centric arcs. Volume 3 collects the Kate storyline, and Volume 4 collects the Clint storyline.
    • Volume 4 opens with issue #16, a Breather Episode focusing on the Christmas movie Clint had watched in issue #6, allowing issue #15’s endingnote  to lead directly into #17, which dealt with the aftermath.
  • Watched It for the Representation: Many people picked up the series because they co-headlined Clint Barton (which emphasized Clint's deafness) and his Legacy Character protege, Kate Bishop.
