- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: More like "They Wasted a Perfectly Good Setting"; while the novel was still fairly well-received, a number of people felt that it could have been even better had it forgone the galaxy-threatening plot and focused more on character interactions (particularly between the humans and Sangheili) and just exploring the Ark itself.
