  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The movie taking more of a safe Meet the Parents approach to the story rather than having more of the 1967 film contributed to it works to its disadvantage as it not only is only able to partially express a means of showing how the effect of an interracial relationship is still just as relevant in present day as it was at the time of the other movie, but it also doesn't really dive into both the uncertainty and unease on either side either. Given the races are also swapped in the story, to see the reverse of that in such a way that could still say a lot the way the original film did would be impressive. Also, while it was probably avoided to divert comparisons to both the original film and Meet the Fockers, seeing Simon's parents and their side of it—good or bad—could've also helped flesh things out even more too.
