  • Cult Classic: It's been overshadowed by much of his catalog due to Springsteen still finding his footing as an artist, and never really returning to this style of writing. However, it has garnered some fans who consider it their favorite Springsteen album, notably David Bowie and Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem.
  • Signature Song: Somewhat of a tie between "Blinded by the Light", "Spirit in the Night" and "Growin' Up". Granted, "Blinded by the Light" has become a huge hit when covered by Manfred Mann's Earth Band, but otherwise, only considering Springsteen's catalog, the other two tracks are more associated with his concerts, with "Spirit in the Night" being a staple especially in his earlier career and "Growin' Up" in his later career - also opening the Broadway setlist thanks to its very autobiographical themes.
    • Also "For You" became popular thanks to Manfred Mann's Earth Band cover.
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: This is the album that received the majority of Bob Dylan comparisons, as Columbia initially believed they had signed a solo singer-songwriter and pushed for more acoustic songs while Springsteen wanted band songs. Springsteen received a lot of "New Dylan" comparisons which lead to skepticism from radio DJ's and music critics.
