- Alas, Poor Villain: The two-headed Vanterviper does try to eat Shando, but at the same time you kind of feel sorry for them and their miserable conjoined existence.
- Ass Pull: Shando's supposed ka-bump, earned after the hardships and character development he went through underground and empowered with strange abilities, is actually a Mutant egg which jumped out of the cart and bathed in sunlight for long enough to get magical powers. Or is it?
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
- The Vanterviper.
- The scene of Shando being stricken blind. During his song we get several flashbacks to various points of his life, until you start wondering if this is actually the end of the movie...and then his tears "wash it away" and the movie proceeds as normal. Not really how that works.
- Nightmare Fuel with a Tear Jerker chaser: There is a scene that comes in the middle of the film where Shando is blinded, and as he wanders helplessly through the dark he sings a song that seems to have been designed to scar children for life.
