YMMV / Fleet Foxes

Go To

  • Breakup Breakout: Former drummer Josh Tillman found success under the Father John Misty moniker after leaving the band.
  • Tear Jerker: Several of this band's songs are capable of bringing out the feels.
    • "Oliver James", "Your Protector" and "He Doesn't Know Why" from their self-titled debut are three good examples. The last song is particularly noteworthy, as Robin goes into detail how he's saddened to see his brother weighed down by the world so much.
    • Helplessness Blues gives us "Someone You'd Admire" and "Blue Spotted Tail".
    • Crack-Up gives us "I Am All That I Need/Arroyo Seco/Thumbprint Scar" and "If You Need To, Keep Time On Me".
    • Shore has some particularly heartrending cuts, such as "Sunblind", "Featherweight", and "I'm Not My Season".
    • Fleet Foxes has White Winter Hymnal, a song all about aging and the passage of time. The music video has the band depicted as old men sitting in an aged and withered forest clearing with a wheel-crank nearby governing the passage of time. One of the members seizes the crank and turns back time, bringing life and lush vegetation back to the forest and even creating a rabbit that befriends one of the band members. But the crank can't be rewound forever and inevitably the member with the crank looses his grip causing time to go rushing forward in an instant, causing the rabbit to vanish right out of the arms of the member who'd befriended it. The worst part is when the song builds to it's climax, and the cranker starts to struggle against the force of time, the member with the rabbit puts his hand over it's eyes, as he knows what's coming but is powerless to stop it...
