YMMV / Cooking with Wild Game

• One True Pairing: It would be pretty hard to be a fan of the series and not ship Asuta x Ai Fa, given that about 60% of the plot is just them living together and trying not to make the situation awkward.
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: While the light novel version is wildly popular, the manga adaptation is shunned. The primary complaint is that whoever took up writing the manga has changed so much of the story, particularly Asuta's behavior and personality, that the mangaka has killed any and all enjoyment from reading it. The number of characters and plot points that are completely cut out is pretty extreme too.
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The author tries to paint Darum Wu as a Troubled Sympathetic Bigot who is pitied by Asuta, but the problem with that is that he's also a spiteful douche who actively tries to hurt people's feelings every time he's onscreen and threatens to kill Asuta because the former won't join him in his misogyny. Also, even by the standards of his home culture, "I want to insult her because she rejected me" isn't really acceptable behaviour.
