  • Contested Sequel: Is it on par or worse than Recettear? No one can seem to find a middle ground.Note
  • Game-Breaker: The Darkness Crystal restores your HP with a charged strike, and you can move while charging your attack, making survival a cinch. You get it in the last area, though, so there aren't many opportunities to take advantage of it within the story. The Survival Dungeon, on the other hand, becomes much more manageable with it.
    • The Super Armor spell likely qualifies as well. It drastically reduces incoming damage, prevents you from being knocked down, which in turn prevents you from losing your Charge Attack such as the healing one mentioned above, and you can use it pretty quickly into the game. You're going to need to abuse this if you want to get through the game.
    • When red gems are stacked onto Super Armor, it increases your attack power, so equipping a good pair of gloves and casting Super Armor with two red gems will make your sword do an incredible amount of damage. The Silhouette, normally a tricky endgame boss, goes down in just a few hits with this strategy.
  • Woolseyism: CarpeFulgur's localization philosophy is somewhat based on this. Most notable is the changing of an character's name. In Japanese, Fortuna was named "Mirai", which means "future." The name was heavily symbolic, due to her setting up nearly every major event in the game to break a Vicious Cycle long after her own death. They did not make this decision lightly.
