• Forced Out of the Closet: Robin being trans was a bit of an Open Secret among his long-term fanbase, especially people who'd paid attention to the lyrics of "This Is Home" and "Dysphoric", but many of his newer fans were unaware until he publicly disclosed in 2020. Unfortunately, this was as a result of a callout for Cavetown's cancelation due to offensive jokes and uses of slurs on the Internet from when he was younger, forcing him to clarify that in the case of him using a slur for trans people specifically he was saying it because he was trans (and was denying it to someone trying to force him out of the closet at the time.)
• LGBT Fanbase: Cavetown has a massive LGBT following, especially among transgender people. He is on the asexual and aromantic spectrums and is a trans man. Even before he came out, his music included trans themes and resonated with trans audiences.
