  • Fridge Logic: In the first book, the story explains the Springheeled Jack phenomenon by claiming he was a time traveler who went back to stop his own ancestor from being born after a disastrous attempt to improve his present. The reason he molests the girls he attacks is because he's trying to find the woman who has a relationship with Edward Oxford, who's identifiable by a birthmark on her skin. That's all well and good, but Springheeled Jack's very presence is the reason why the future is altered, and he only assaults the women after his first attempt to change time goes awry and horribly alters things. So that means that the Springheeled Jack in the normal timeline, i.e. our own, still has no explanation.
