• Newer Than They Think: It may seem odd that Mr. Felch hasn't heard of the Heimlich maneuver, instead simply assuming that Mr. Deluca was trying to mug him, saying of the Heimlich maneuver that "the Germans tried it in '43", and later calling it the Hamburg maneuver. In fact Dr. Henry Heimlich had only been advocating his treatment for choking for a few years, and the Yale paper officially recommending the Heimlich maneuver as the first resort for a choking victim was published in 1982, the same year this episode aired.
