• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: A lot of people disliked Summer for forcing Jaune into a polyamorous relationship with Ruby and Yang. A few chapters later, Summer was revealed to have a very sympathetic reason for doing so: wanting to protect her daughters from Salem's wrath.
• Tear Jerker: For all the comedy in this fic, there are still a few soul-crushing moments.
  • Jaune being kidnapped causes a lot of pain for everyone, but especially Weiss who has grown to genuinely like him as a boyfriend.
  • Jaune suffers several blows over the next few chapters: first he is kidnapped, he reels from the revelation that his own team were handpicked to be his bodyguards, he wonders if anyone actually cared for him as a person and not as Salem's nephew, he is hurt when Raven's guards don't take him seriously as a threat, and he is once again kidnapped by Summer Rose who forces him into a polyamorous marriage with Yang and Ruby.
  • Chapter 19 has several sad moments, mainly between Yang and Summer .
    • Summer herself knows Yang is right to be angry and that she knows she's crossed serious lines, but she considers Salem to be such a threat that she sees those lines as a Necessary Evil.
    • Summer breaks down to her daughter and confesses that she spent over a week in Salem's dungeon and was only spared because Salem sympathized with her as a family woman. Nevertheless, she stresses Salem and her followers are evil enough that she feels the need to use Jaune as leverage to protect her daughters.
