This was all just Tommy's dream.
- The theory actually works because it's been heavily hinted at throughout the show and the first movie that Stu's not financially stable, and I don't think he'll have the money to rent a boat cause those things probably are worth a lot to rent. Plus, as bumbling as Stu can be I think he has better common sense than what he did in the movie i.e. renting a ramshackle boat that gets him, his family and friends stranded on a deserted island. So maybe the theory works in context of when you examine Stu's behavior more carefully.
