The CMC will ask their sisters for help and they'll take over the entire event
Applejack and Rainbow Dash in particular have a long-standing history of being competitive towards each other and Rarity can occasionally get a bit carried away when on a creative streak; this could easily turn into a case of Unwanted Assistance for the CMC.- Confirmed, except it's less competing with one another and more trying to relive (or just redo) their own past races.
Applejack's over-protectiveness of Apple Bloom could come into play again
Apple Bloom may have to contend with her big sister micro-managing the race "for her protection" to the point that AJ ends up running it in her younger sister's place.- Semi-confirmed, in the preview we see Applejack driving an absurdly slow cart that she most likely build like that to "protect" Apple Bloom.
- Jossed: She designed it to be "traditional", not for protection.
- Of course, the "tradition" ribbon could simply be a convenient excuse for her true motive of keeping Applebloom safe...
Applejack and Apple Bloom will win the race
The episode will directly reference The Grasshopper and the Ants and The Tortoise and the Hare when explaining why the other pairs didn't win.Going from the episode title, it's also possible that the Apples win on account of Rainbow Dash and Rarity's carts not being properly designed to handle the race course.
- Jossed. A final winner was never shown, and the adults were effectively banned from active racing after the first attempt ended in disaster.
- Then again, at the end of the episode Apple Bloom's cart is clearly shown as being the fastest; Sweetie Bell's cart is the only one that goes for the traditional look, and Scootaloo's cart clearly stands out as an original design. It's very likely they won.
