YMMV / My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic S6 E15 "The Cart Before the Ponies"

• Alternate Aesop Interpretation:
  • Don't try to live vicariously through your kids.
  • A more cynical one is that adults enjoying something for kids is likely to ruin it for the kids.
• Alternate Character Interpretation: How Derpy's cart beat Rarity's◊ for Most Creative could be explained by Rarity being an Unreliable Narrator.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Crackle Pop/Derby Hooves, the colt Derpy rides with, was already being added to the fanon Hooves family as a son or brother to Derpy the same day the episode aired.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Pony Kart is an indie project that was started back in 2012, but tragically put into indefinite hiatus due to lack of free time needed to develop the fangame beyond the playable beta phase. More than four years later, Season 6 starts which coincidentally includes this episode about ponies racing in two-pony go karts.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • If you expected a gag-filled Wacky Racing episode... you'd be wrong. (Except for the namesake montage and the wings on the swan cart.) Instead the entire episode revolves around Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash acting in full It's All About Me mode and ignoring the Cutie Mark Crusaders' feelings until the three little fillies finally snap.
  • The ending could have been a little deeper had the three Cutie Mark Crusaders pair off with the pony who was more acclimated to the design they wanted rather than assume that all three were capable of the kind of design the younger ponies wanted and simply weren't following through with their request.
• Unintentionally Sympathetic: While A.J., Dash and Rarity are certainly to blame for not listening to their sisters and taking over the competition, it's arguable if they can really be held responsible for ruining the race for everyone else. The reason they all crashed was because someone had the bright idea of building a track having multiple roads all intersect at one point. Really, a crash like that could have occurred at any time, regardless of the main characters' actions. Furthermore, there was no other roadway visible.
