Johann Liebert is Light's real father.
- Let's look at the evidence. And yes, this WMG applies specifically to this fic.
- First of all, Naomi thinks Light looks partially German. Johann is actually Czech, but his blonde hair, blue eyes, and skin color could make him look German enough to someone who isn't from Europe, meaning his child could have traits that would seem Germanic. To back up the idea that Light is partially white, if he were 100% Japanese, then his and Naomi's son Duck would also be 100% Japanese, and thus Ray Penber, who is not Japanese, would see that Duck is not actually his son.
- Next is his treatment of his family. Johann would always brainwash his foster families into thinking the world of him and being absolutely obedient, and when Naomi and Sayu are being held captive by Mello, Naomi comes to the conclusion that Light has brainwashed his family into viewing him as a model human being, despite his obvious psychopathic streak. Also, just like Johann cares about his sister, but none of his foster parents, Light cares about Sayu, but holds his father and his son in utter contempt.
- Some of the most convincing evidence, though, is the behavior of Duck. Even at the age of 4, he can Mind Rape people fairly easily, just like Johann could, even as a young child. His entire demeanor, with the exception of his confusion around the time when he learns that Light, who he despises, is his father, resembles that of young Johann, with knowledge and intelligence beyond his years, without ethics to protect others from him.
- Naomi names Duck to reduce the chance that he could be taken seriously as a deity, because even a cult would find it difficult to earnestly worship someone with such a name. This is directly compared to Light's silly name, and the translation, which is even more outlandish, which can be taken as an implication that Sachiko Yagami might have intentionally named Light in order to make him not be taken as seriously, in order to make him less dangerous than Johann.
- Finally, both Johann and Duck, and to a lesser extent Light, are referred to as the Devil or the Antichrist. Although Light's childhood behavior is unseen, both Johann and Duck were evil, incredibly intelligent, capable of Mind Rape and More than Mind Control, and compared to the Antichrist as little children, and Naomi has evidence in Sayu's brainwashing to support that Light was like that as a child as well.
