It's difficult for me to talk about myself to strangers who are probably not listening. I'm pretty good at talking about myself, and I do it basically all the time. In fact, I take pains to do memorable things—not because I enjoy or approve of them—but simply because I want someone to be talking about me all the time.
Even in my apartment, I've got my stereo rigged up to a motion sensor, so whenever someone walks in, it begins playing a track that sounds like several people are whispering in another room, waiting for the perfect moment to jump out and begin a surprise party in my honor. And I've got cardboard cutouts in that room of all of my closest friends like Chewbacca, Arthur Dent, Simon the Digger, The Companion Cube, and many others.
I also keep my refrigerator in there, and it's stuffed full of drinks so if any real people wanted to throw me a party, it wouldn't be hard. I leave my door unlocked for the same reason.
