One interesting thing I've learned: live an ordinary life long enough, and you're a veteran full of old war stories, by definition.
I'm generally the one adding Chinese history with spoiler warnings or loading up video-game pages with details on medieval history.
That, and writing defenses of Miko Miyazaki; the spirit of "the forces of light in hardcore mode," the question of how to avert Good Is Dumb and Cloud Cuckoo Lander, strikes me as very interesting. (I'm the author of the index Knight in Shining Tropes; feel free to enhance it.)
