• Banned in China: Yaoi manga, anime, and games are banned in the United Arab Emirates as LGBTQ+ activities are illegal in the country.
  • They are also banned in Singapore, likely in relation to the country's now-defunct Section 377A.
  • And of course, they have been suppressed, banned and regulated in mainland China and Hong Kong for fear that "[r]eading too much [yaoi] material will change [girls'] sexual orientation somehow". A couple of Yaoi magazines such as BOLO and 801 Kano are still being published as special issues of other publications, though.
