• What Could Have Been: The storyline was originally planned to be a bigger storyline known as "The Mutant Wars". It would have spun out of the Days Of Future Present storyline and involved all four X-Men team titles. It would have pit seven factions against each other - The Hellfire Club, Apocalypse and his Horsemen, the X-Men (who would have formally reformed and revealed they were alive to the world), X-Factor, the New Mutants, Excalibur and the Shadow King, who would have possessed Legion, who possessed Moira MacTaggart. For whatever reason, this never materialized and the issues meant for the storyline were repurposed into this storyline (except for Excalibur, which had different stories for it) with the Shadow King plotline being used for The Muir Island Saga.
