Trivia / XCOM: Chimera Squad

Go To

  • Acting in the Dark: Many of the voice actors for the aliens weren't told what their characters actually looked like to provoke more humanlike performances. Erica Lindbeck didn't know that Torque was a snake person until after the game released.
  • Ascended Fanon: Jane Kelly surviving the events of the war - and becoming the Director of the Reclamation Agency, for starters.
    • To a lesser degree, ascended mods, including:
      • Various aliens have been more or less fully playable in XCOM 2 thanks to mind control abilities, its multiplayer support, and industrious modders, which has come full circle seeing as Chimera Squad has a Muton, a Sectoid, and a Viper.
      • A couple of the weapons usable by Agents include pistols and submachine guns, the later of which wasn't in XCOM 2 before mods, and the former only being able to be used as a backup weapon, rather than a primary one. Though the former also can be traced back to XCOM: Enemy Within, and the agents the player used to hunt down EXALT), and the latter became available for Skirmishers in War of the Chosen.
      • One of the Agents the player can control (and some of the enemies) use shields, something that was added to XCOM 2 via a mod.
      • Several elements of Long War, such as the damage reduction behind full cover and the 45-degree camera rotation, have been incoporated into Chimera Squad.
  • What Could Have Been: The game's files contain references to a twelfth agent, a female Muton named "Claymore", who was apparently cut at some point during the game's development. Relatedly, the agent known as "Claymore" in the final game was at one point called "Containment" instead.
