• Cash-Cow Franchise: Higurashi alone is still churning out merchandise, from console ports to a new anime series, even though the series ended a couple of years ago. This seems to be less the case with Umineko, since there isn't nearly as much additional material and the anime is unlikely to get a second season due to low sales.
• Trolling Creator: Ryukishi, and the fans love him for it. Then again, his trolling is closer to Mion's brand of "trolling" (good spirited screwing with people for harmless amusement). His reputation came back to bite him with Umineko, being the root cause of the Shkannontrice Rosatrice fandom schism until the manga revealed the truth.
