• Referenced by...: There's a Running Gag in the film Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where the symbiote wants to use the name "Lethal Protector", but Eddie Brock rejects it because of it being too eighties. This continues into the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home, where they're sucked into the MCU and, when they hear about a hero called Hulk, the symbiote insists, "And you thought 'Lethal Protector' was a shit name!"
• Word of God: In a 2018 interview with Comic Crusaders, David Michelinie revealed that—displeased by writer and editor Danny Fingeroth's actions regarding Venom—he created and deliberately killed off Scream, Agony, Phage, Riot, and Lasher to forestall the creation of more symbiote characters... something he laments didn't stick.
