• All There in the Script: While what Bertram's old mine was used for is unstated in the episode, Concept Art reveals the mine was once a lead mine.
• Early Draft Tie-In: While in the episode, Bertram was a tender engine, his 2000 Thomas Wooden Railway model was a tank engine, just as he was intended to be. Despite this, his Ertl model released the previous year was a tender engine, just as he was in the series.
• Prop Recycling:
  • Bertram's model was made by repainting Duke's brown and reusing Smudger's face masks.
  • The remnants of Scruffey's destroyed model can be spotted at Bertram's Old Mine, hidden behind a scrap caterpillar crane.
• What Could Have Been: Bertram was intended to be a tank engine as shown in Concept Art, but due to budget issues was made as a tender engine by reusing Duke's model.
• Working Title: "Toby meets an Old Warrior" and "Discovery".
