• Prop Recycling: One of the trucks in Bill, Ben, and Derek's train reuses Scruffey's face.
• Recycled Set: The shed where Bill, Ben, BoCo, and Duck rest at the end of the episode is the shed on the Brendam Docks set, albeit with the surrounding buildings rearranged to represent a new location.
• What Could Have Been: Derek was first envisioned as a Class 14 diesel, one of the same diesels that inspired the story due to how frequently railway consultant David Maidment saw them break down in South Wales. Derek was later changed to a Class 17, as they were even more unreliable.
• Working Title: "Teething Troubles!".
