  • Franchise Ownership Acquisition: Upon Malibu comics' bankruptcy in 1994, Marvel bought the defunct comics publisher and by extension the Ultraverse series. While some characters associated with the series made appearances in some Marvel titles in the 1990s, but from 2000 onward not appeared since. Disney, who in turn bought Marvel in 2009, has so far shown no interest in reviving the Ultraverse franchise for some reasons explained in further detail under other entries on this page.
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: The main reason why the Ultraverse (and Malibu) hasn't been revived is due to the ongoing legal wrangling between Marvel and creator Scott Mitchell Rosenberg over royalties.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Still in the 90s, there were plans to continue The Strangers title. A letters section at the end of the last printed issue (#24) showed three covers for upcoming three isses that never materialized.
    • There were plans to revive the Ultraverse back in 2003 when Marvel brought in Steve Englehart to helm the revival but it never materialised due to the aforementioned reasons (see Screwed by the Lawyers above). Here's what Englehart had in mind for the scrapped revival.
