Trivia / The Sea Inside

Go To

  • Approval of God: Ramón's nephew Luis, who watched a private screening before release, found the movie "charming", "very emotional", and praised Javier Bardem's acting.
  • Disowned Adaptation: Father Luis de Moya called The Sea Inside "a lying film" that "evidently aims to ridicule the message defended by the Catholic Church. The only moment in the film that makes the public laugh is protagonized by a priest. It could have been a psychiatrist, a physiotherapist, a nurse... but no: it was a priest."
  • Underage Casting:
    • 35-year old Javier Bardem plays 55-year old Ramón Sampedro, except for one flashback when Ramón is 27 and some older photographs.
    • 77-year old Joan Dalmau plays Ramón's father, who was 92 at the time.
