• Blooper: Ultimate Match switched King's animation when she's waiting on the side as a teammate. As a result, she cheers for you every time you get hit instead of when you hit your opponent, and vice versa. This wasn't corrected even in Final Edition.
• Similarly Named Works: There's a 2014 mobile game called The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Online (shortened as KOF '98 UM OL) developed by China-based PlayHit. Despite the similar name and technically belonging to the same franchise, it has nothing to do with the mainline Ultimate Match, not even a loose adaptation of the game or anything. It is only named so for brand awareness's sake.
