- Follow the Leader: The Immortals Series is clearly following the young-adult Paranormal Romance trend kickstarted by The Twilight Saga, such as an angsty teen girl as the lead who falls in love with an attractive immortal but is unable to be intimate with him; Ever can also read minds and is initially drawn to Damen because he's the only person whose mind she can't read, which is exactly like Twilight only with the genders flipped.
