Trivia / The Boston Strangler

Go To

  • Doing It for the Art: Tony Curtis wanted to do a dramatic part after several comedy films had flopped. He became fascinated by the script for The Boston Strangler and agreed to appear for a reduced salary of $100,000, going so far as to fire his own agent for demanding higher pay for fear that the studio would cast someone less expensive. Although the film itself received mixed reviews, Curtis's performance was widely praised and he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.
  • What Could Have Been: Playwright Terence Rattigan was originally hired to write the script, but Rattigan had a hard time getting a handle on the material and he was replaced by Edward Anhalt.
