Trivia / Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: World of Light

Go To

  • Author Appeal: The author tends to lend focus to characters from series that he is especially fond of, the most notable of these being Golden Sun, Metal Gear, and Mega Man.
  • Creator's Favorite: The author has admitted to liking Matthew, Mega Man, and Ridley a lot.
  • Schedule Slip: After updating on a fairly regular basis for the entirety of 2018 and 2019 (aside from a brief one-month break in the latter half of 2019), the author hit a particularly bad case of this in 2020, which he attributed to the following:
    • Someone plagiarizing World of Light at the start of 2020, which deeply upset the author, and was accompanied by an increasing distaste of the Super Smash Bros. fandom through the first half of the year, not helped by people continuously pushing his primary Berserk Button of asking for characters to be added into the story in spite of his wishes and requests for them to stop doing so.
    • An incident in July which the author refused to elaborate on for the most part, something that he states killed his love for Smash as a whole for a while.
    • Finally, school had started back up in August for the author, and the increasingly busy schedule left him little to no time to write anything at all. The end result? The author had only written 5 chapters in 2020, compared to 38 from November 2018 to the end of 2019.
  • What Could Have Been: The author mentions a few of these in his notes:
    • Ridley was supposed to be found in the Dark Realm, but was pushed up due to the author's love for the character.
    • Saki Amamiya was a potential candidate for a main character.
    • The entire story was very nearly canceled due to a plagiarist stealing the story. Thankfully, this didn't happen. Additionally, the author admitted to having come close to cancelling the story because of his growing distaste for the Smash fandom, though fortunately that didn't come to pass either.
    • The author admitted to not being able to work out plans for Medusa and Dr. Eggman, thus resulting in them being scrapped.
    • The decrepit building in the Mysterious Dimension explored from chapter 40 and onwards was originally meant to be some old, abandoned building with no connection to any series, but the author was interested in including some elements of a horror game into their fic, and the choice ultimately boiled down to either Eternal Darkness or Silent Hill. Silent Hill 2's Brookhaven Hospital was eventually selected because of the author's lack of knowledge on Eternal Darkness.
      • The X Parasites were not present in any way in the original draft of chapter 42.
  • Why Fandom Can't Have Nice Things: The author used to tease characters and foreshadow future events in his pre-chapter and post-chapter notes, but after several reviewers did nothing but spam him with character requests in private messages and reviews (Shadow and Sora being the most notable offenders, while Mewtwo, in a bizarre case, had already been teased yet people did nothing but ask for its presence despite the author's continued insistence that it would be saved for a later point in the story), and continuing in spite of him messaging them and asking them to stop, he has since stopped doing so, only talking about events that happened within the chapter in said notes.
  • Word of God:
    • Daisy was reworked into representing the sports side of the Mario spinoffs due to the author wanting to make Daisy more unique.
    • Content from Fire Emblem was held off until Chapter 31 due to the author worrying that they wouldn't be able to do the series justice.
    • Olimar was held off until chapter 42 compared to him being found very early on in the Light Realm in-game due to the author struggling to create a distinct fighting style for the character.
    • Sephiroth's inclusion ended up causing a lot of plans for the story to need to be rewritten.
