- Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: In 1978, Robert L. Carringer and Barry Sabath claimed that the film featured Sally becoming an apprentice to a shopkeeper played by Erich Schönfelder, and meeting his employer's daughter, played by Ossi Oswalda. This does indeed happen... in Shoe Palace Pinkus, Lubitsch's first Sally movie. As this film was believed to be missing at the time, it's understandable why some people had some misconceptions about its plot.
- Vacation, Dear Boy: The film's Alpine setting came about partially become of this trope, partially as a way for Lubitsch to do his own take on the then-popular Mountain Film genre. It was one of several films the director set in the Alps.
