According to Karen Prell, in the scene in which Gobo and Red are trapped together and Gobo says quietly, "It's been nice knowin' you, Red," there was additional dialogue scripted for her and Jerry Nelson to say, but on the spur of the moment, the two decided to have their characters silently cuddle up to each other. The result was a powerful moment that illustrated that Gobo and Red, despite their constant head-butting throughout the episode, are friends (at the very least).
