First Appearance: Of David Canary as Candy Canaday, the handsome young drifter that Ben hired as the Ponderosa's ranch foreman. This might have been seen as evidence that Bonanza was starting to focus on characters other than the core Cartwrights, but the series was still a top 5 ratings winner in 1967-1968 and Canary quickly began receiving fan mail, so the move was seen as a good one.
