• What Could Have Been: Da Pacem Domine went through multiple overhauls. Almost all of the previous versions share common elements that didn't end up in the version that would later become definitive. Much of this can be read in its earlier edition, The Apocryphal Attempt:
  • John Constantine and the Renee Montoya version of the Question were major characters across the previous editions. Eventually, the two were dropped with the more familiar Stephanie and Tim taking their places as Cassandra and Sadie's traveling companions.
  • The Suit of Sin from the 2009 Azrael series was previously a major plot point, with the physical aspect of the suit becoming a Clingy Costume for Cassandra and the memories it contained going to Sadie. Eventually, the icon took the place as memory-related object bound to Sadie and Cassandra getting a physical power up was discarded.
