- When Sister Mary Eunice says, "The bad news, the rabbit died," she is refering to an early form of pregnancy test. In the 20's, the test was normally performed on mice and involved injecting the woman's urine into the animal and observing the changes in the animal's reproductive organs during its autopsy. While all the animals died in the tests, the common misconception was that if the animal died then the woman was pregnant.
