• Black Sheep Hit: Curiously, all three of his #1 hits are: "There Ain't Nothin' Wrong with the Radio" and "Kiss This" are both novelties, while "That's as Close as I'll Get to Loving You" is a ballad about a love affair the likes of which he never recorded again.
• Chart Displacement: He has three #1 hits, none of which are "You've Got to Stand for Something" or "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly".
• Creator Couple: His wife, Thea, co-wrote "Kiss This" and sang backing vocals on it. She also sang duet vocals on "Love Like There's No Tomorrow".
• Follow-Up Failure: The two follow-ups to "You've Got to Stand for Something" peaked at #40 and #54, while "That's as Close as I'll Get to Loving You" was followed by the #22 flop "Without Your Love" and "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly" by the #46 dud "I'll Take Love over Money".
• Missing Episode: He was slated to release an album on Lyric Street Records in 2005 called He Believed, but was dropped when the lead single "Come Friday" fell short of top 40.
• What Could Have Been: At the time of the 9/11 attacks, Tippin had a song on the charts titled "Always Was" which had gotten as far as #40 before he pulled it in favor of the timely "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly". Would "Always Was" have become a hit had he not chosen to switch it out?
