  • 1857: Official opening of the S & M on December 9th.
  • 1879: Construction of the Harwick Tramway begins.
  • 1882: Extension of S & M to Maron.
    • Construction of the Mid-Sodor Railway begins at King Orry's Bridge.
  • 1884: The MSR opens a slate quarry.
    • Construction of the Skarloey Railway begins.
  • 1885: The Crovan's Gate Railway opens on July 6th.
    • Construction of the Wellsworth & Suddery Railway begins on October 23rd.
  • The main station of the W & S is built at Wellsworth.
  • 1888: The Crovan's Gate is renamed the Skarloey Railway on January 2nd.
  • 1902: The station at Crosby is constructed.
  • 1904: Closure of the Harwick Tramway.
    • Land bought by the MSR.
    • Extension of the MSR.
  • 1906: Extension of the MSR ends in Arlesdale on April 12th.
  • 1914: Closure of the S & M.
  • 1915: The China Clay Pits is constructed.
  • 1918: The MSR is extended to Arlesburgh.
  • 1920: The MSR starts an Express Service.
