Timeline for the world of Eberron.
Note that years prior to the Current Age are given in a certain amount of years before the present. This refers to the present date, 998 YK, and not year 0 YK. Years in the present age are given by the Galifar Calendar, which divides years into 12 months of 28 days each. Years in this timeline are annotated YK, or Years of the Kingdom.
The Age of Dragons
- Unknown years ago - Start of the Draconic Prophecy.
- Unknown years ago - The Progenitor Dragons, Eberron, Khyber, and Siberys, weave reality and the thirteen planes into existence, creating the material plane in the process.
- Unknown years ago - Khyber kills Siberys and is imprisoned by Eberron. Their bodies become the planet Eberron, the underdark Khyber, and the planetary ring Siberys.
- Unknown years ago - Dragons and Couatl arise as the first known sapient beings on Eberron.
The Age of Demons
- ~10,000,000 years ago - Khyber's offspring, demons and fiends, spread across Eberron, beginning their reign over the planet.
- ~1,500,000 years ago - The blue dragon Ourelonastrix learns magic, possibly from the Overlord Bel Shalor. Along with the couatl Hezcalipa, they rediscover the Draconic Prophecy. Armed with its knowledge, their kind once again rise to prominence and challenge the demons. The younger races have come into existence and hide from the ongoing war.
- ~1,000,000 years ago - The overlord Masvirik is defeated, and the black dragon Rhashaak is set to guard his city, Haka'torvhak.
- ~100,000 years ago - End of the Dragon-Fiend war. Almost all Couatls sacrifice themselves to bind the Overlords, becoming trapped with them in what mortals would later term the Silver Flame. The dragons retreat to Argonnessen to contemplate the prophecy, ignoring the younger races.
The Age of Giants
- ~80,000 years ago - Giants rise to prominence in Xen'drik, enslaving the Eladrin and creating through experiments the subspecies of Elves and Drow.
- ~75,000 years ago - Dragonborn from Argonnessen arrive in Q'barra to assist Rhashaak in guarding Haka'torvhak.
- ~60,000 years ago - Giants learn arcane magic from the dragons and master it. Their slaves, unnoticed by their masters, watch and learn.
- ~40,000 years ago - An incursion from the plane of dreams leads to a war between Quori and Giants. The war ends when the Giants throw Dal Quor out of alignment, though the backlash causes great damage to Xen'drik.
- ~39,000 years ago - Xen'drik is ravaged, and the elven slaves rebel. Giants attempt to wipe them out with powerful magic, but are stopped by the dragons. The prophet Aeren leads the surviving elves to the sub-continent of Aerenal. The drow remain in Xen'drik.
The Age of Monsters
- ~38,000 years ago - Giants revert to primitive people in the ruins of their empire. The elves spread across Aerenal. Goblinoid kingdoms arise in what is today Breland and Darguun in Khorvaire.
- ~30,000 years ago - Orc kingdoms arise in western Khorvaire, coming into conflict with the Goblinoids. Elven city-states are established across Aerenal.
- ~25,000 years ago - The Undying Court appears in Aerenal. The first skirmishes between dragons and elves, setting a pattern for the next millennia.
- ~16,000 years ago - The goblinoid nations are united as the Dhakaani Empire. The green dragon Vvaraak teaches orcs druidic magic, establishing the Gatekeeper Druids.
- ~14,000 years ago - Many dragonborn leave Haka'torvhak to establish an empire in Q'barra and beyond. They clash with the Dhakaani.
- ~13,000 years ago - Rhashaak is corrupted by Masvirik. Dragonborn return to Hara'torvhak to aid in his containment.
- ~12,000 years ago - Dwarves migrate from the Frostfell, settling in the Ironfoot mountains.
- ~10,000 years ago - The Dhakaani Empire conquer the Talenta Plains, pushing the lizardfolk there back to Q'barra. Tarinadal Elves settle in modern day Valenar, though abandon it soon after in response to dragon attacks on Aerenal.
- ~9,000 years ago - An incursion from Xoriat leads to the Daelkyr War, devastating much of western Khorvaire. They are defeated and imprisoned by the Gatekeeper druids, who seal all portals to Xoriat, but not before causing great damage to Dhakaan. The Dhakaani city of Jaa'shaarat is ruined.
- ~5,000 years ago - Weakened by the Daelkyr war, Dhakaan falls to internal strife and power struggles. Small enclaves survive, but the empire collapses.
Current Age
- -304 YK - Riedra is founded and unified under the rule of the Inspired.
- -202 YK - Io'vakas is destroyed by dragons, the refugees settle on the slopes of Mount Erishnak. Led by the dragon Arnaarlasha and a number of other elder dragons, they found the city of Io'lokar.
- -45 YK - Galifar I is born in Korth, Karrnath.
- -43 YK - The Border Wars erupt between the nations of Khorvaire, lasting for a decade.
- -24 YK - Galifar I becomes king of Karrnath at the age of 21.
- -14 YK - Galifar I begins his campaign to unite Khorvaire.
- -7 YK - Galifar I allies with the Dragonmarked Houses, gaining their support in exchange for neutral status in his kingdom.
- -2 YK - A half-orc or human with the Mark of Finding is born in the Shadow Marshes. Sharn is rebuilt.
- 1 YK - Galifar I and his scions - Cyre, Karrn, Thrane, Aundair, and Brey - take control of the five nations and establish the Kingdom of Galifar, with each scion serving as regent of a different region. The goblins are freed.
- 15 YK - Galifar I establishes the Arcane Congress.
- 28 YK - Galifar-Lhazaar war begins, lasting a decade.
- 32 YK - The Five Nations adopt the names of Galifar's children. Sharn is rebuilt.
- 40 YK - Galifar I, now 85, abdicates, giving the throne to his oldest surviving son, Cyre.
- 53 YK - Galifar I dies.
- 106 YK - House Kundarak is recognized by the other houses.
- 299 YK - A pillar of fire erupts on the shore of Scions Sound, spawning demons. Tira Miron, a paladin of Dol Arrah, attempts to challenge it alongside her guide, a Couatl. The Couatl is mortally injured fighting Bel Shalor, the overlord responsible, but gifts Tira its power. Tira defeats Bel Shalor, and the pillar of flame turns silver. Guided by Tira Miron, now the Voice in the Flame, the church of the Silver Flame is established.
- 347 YK - House Lyrandar founds Stormhome on an island off the coast of Aundair.
- 498 YK - The Church of the Silver Flame becomes the dominant religion in Thrane. The Mark of Finding is discovered by House Sivis, leading to the establishment of House Tharashk.
- 512 YK - King Daroon orders the construction of the Starpeaks Observatory. Queen Joliana is crowned and attempts to enforce worship of the Silver Flame across the continent, but dies suddenly before civil war can break out.
- 600 YK - Clan Noldrun disappears.
- 778 YK - Medusas from Khyber takes control of the Goblinoid ruin Cazhaak Draal.
- 783 YK - The first Speaking Stones are developed by the Twelve.
- 789 YK - Sivis message stations begin operations.
- 797 YK - Mordain the Fleshweaver is excoriated from House Phiarlan for practicing Daelkyr magic.
- 800 YK - The Twelve appeals to Galifar to end piracy near Stormreach.
- 802 YK - Galifar makes accord with the pirate lords of Stormreach, allowing them to retain power while working with the Dragonmarked houses.
- 811 YK - First lightningrail connects Flamekeep and Fairhaven.
- 832 YK - The Silver Purge. Over the following 50 years, the Church of the Silver Flame leads an inquisition that renders lycanthropes all but extinct.
- 845 YK - King Jarot begins a public works project to connect all of central Khorvaire via lightning rails.
- 865 YK - Lightning rails now connect the five nations, Talenta, Zilargo, and Mror.
- 878 YK - House Deneith provides mercenaries hired from the goblinoids of Darguun.
- 890 YK - The Omaren Revolt in Stormreach is put down.
- 894 YK - King Jarot dies. His daughter Mishann of Cyre is named successor, backed by her brother Wrogar of Aundair. Thalin of Thrane, Kaius of Karrnath, and Wroann of Breland reject her claim. The Last War begins.
- 896 YK - The Order of the Emerald Claw is established.
- 908 YK - Mishann, queen of Cyre, is assassinated.
- 910 YK - Kaius I disappears, assumed dead. His son, Kaius II, takes the throne.
- 914 YK - The Mror Holds declare independence. Queen Thalin of Thrane dies, and the nation becomes a theocracy under the Church of the Silver Flame.
- 919 YK - Queen Wroann of Breland dies.
- 920 YK - King Wrogar of Aundair dies.
- 928 YK - Ven ir'Kesslan leads survivors from Cyre to found the nation of Q'barra.
- 946 YK - Stormreach is attacked by fire giants, but they are driven back with the help of the giants of Rusheme.
- 956 YK - Elves annex the southern region of Cyre, founding Valenar.
- 958 YK - The Eldeen Reaches declare independency, under the protection of the druidic Wardens of the Woods.
- 961 YK - Boranel is crowned king of Breland.
- 962 YK - Zilargo officially allies with Breland.
- 965 YK - First modern Warforged are created by House Cannith.
- 969 YK - The warlord Haruuc Shaarat'kor leads a rebellion against Cyre and Breland, founding Darguun.
- 972 YK - House Thuranni splits from House Phiarlan.
- 976 YK - Regent Moranna of Karnath outlaws the order of the Emerald Claw.
- 980 YK - Aurala becomes queen of Aundair.
- 986 YK - The Daughters of Sora Kell leads an army of monsters against Breland, claiming large swathes of land and establishing Droaam as a nation. Occupied with the war, king Boranel pulls back his forces and settlers.
- 990 YK - House Lyrandar create the first elemental airships.
- 991 YK - King Kaius III becomes king of Karrnath.
- 993 YK - Jaela Daran, age 6, becomes Keeper of the Flame.
- 994 YK - The Mourning. Cyre is consumed by grey mists.
- 996 YK - The Treaty of Thronehold and end of the Last War. The treaty establishes the borders of Breland, Karrnath, Aundair, Thrane, Talenta Plains, Zilargo, the Mror Holds, the Lhazaar Principalities, Valenar, Darguun, Q'barra, and the Eldeen Reaches. Creation of new warforged is outlawed, while the survivors from the Last War are granted equal rights. The Tribunal of Thronehold is established to prosecute war crimes.
- 997 YK - Stormreach expands to accommodate war refugees.
- 998 YK - Present day.
