- The death of Doctor Light, the newest member of the Justice League of America and one of the nicest; being the most vocal about talking things out with the Justice League. He joined up because he wanted to find a cure for his light powers and go back to his normal life with his wife and three daughters. Now his family needs to be informed of his death.
- Superman is the most distraught over the death because he unwillingly killed him. He turns himself in and is deeply hurt when he learns that Doctor Light has a family].
- In the Phantom Stranger tie-in, the Phantom Stranger takes Batman, Katana, and Deadman to Heaven to find the deceased's soul and bring him back to life. They were so close, but angels intervene and banish them back to Earth without him; achieving nothing in their quest. Except the Stranger, who is sent to oblivion for defying the angels. At the very least, Doctor Light gives them something for his family before they are banished.
