When they're not treading on Nightmare Fuel, the defeat movies and backstories of some of the characters are more than heartbreaking when you think about the fact that these characters' lives are being ruined by a slimy piece of worm-ridden filth who gleefully enjoys their misery.

- Quagga spent most of his life in slavery and finally gets out and is just starting to take back his life, only to fall on hard times on Tatooine to the point where he has to do a make-or-break gamble with his future. If he loses, he ends up right back in the servitude he worked so hard to get away from, this time to Jabba.
- Wade's been getting the short end of the stick ever since he lost his home and his family to the Death Star. Now he's at rock bottom; in Jabba's bad books and fighting for his life in a vehicular combat tournament with nothing but a landspeeder. If he hadn't discovered his force sensitivity, he would have probably crossed the Despair Event Horizon by now.
- Tia and Ghia are only eighteen. Even though they're ace pilots for the Rebellion, they've just barely left their teens behind. They're in way over their heads when they go to rescue Han, and it fails miserably. As a result, they learn the hard way that the "good guys" don't always win and end up at the mercy of the worst Crime-Lord in the galaxy. One can imagine the disappointment and heartache they most likely feel from failing to rescue their hero from Jabba, and almost as soon as they arrive at that. The only real comfort they have is that they're still together.
- Malakili's defeat movie shows him being publicly mocked in Jabba's throne room by both Jabba and Salacious Crumb after briefly hearing the Rancor's agonized cry. This guy already hates working for Jabba, and the Rancor is one of the only friends that he ever truly made in his life. Now he's miserable, friendless, and the butt of the joke.
