Tear Jerker / RRR (2022)

Go To

  • The opening scene of Malli being cruelly ripped away from her village while her mother tries in vain to save her. Malli's mother is bashed in the head with a tree branch for her trouble in front of her horrified daughter.
  • Malli begging Bheem not to leave her when he finds her at the governor's mansion, especially since he has to do so anyway to avoid getting caught.
  • Ram's Heroic BSoD when learning Bheem is the man he's hunting... after Bheem saved his life.
    • Bheem's subsequent devastation when Ram shows up to arrest him.
  • Ram's backstory is one big one. Due to his father training a rebel army, the British launch a surprise attack on their village, and even though Ram has Improbable Aiming Skills, he's just one rifle and he can't kill them fast enough before they get his younger brother and mother. It gets even worse when his father, already maimed in the attack, goes for the Heroic Sacrifice, approaching the soldiers with dynamite strapped to himself... and once close enough, making his son shoot it.
  • The flogging scene is painful to watch for both parties; Bheem because he's experiencing an excruciating level of pain due to his own refusal to knuckle under, and Ram because he's being forced to inflict said pain on his best friend in order to maintain his image as the perfect soldier.
    • It gets worse: before the punishment even starts, Ram asks Bheem to kneel down, thus potentially avoiding the flogging. When Bheem won't, and he's forced to start whipping him, Ram finally steps on Bheem's chains and yanks his feet out from under him, trying to force him to kneel so the punishment can stop. And then he essentially pleads for Bheem to kneel and confess his crimes, telling him that if he doesn't he'll be killed.
    • During "Komaram Bheemudu," at one point when Ram is wiping blood from his face you can also see him taking the opportunity to brush away a tear.
    • At the end of the flogging, during the riot, Ram kneels down and begins tenderly checking on Bheem to make sure he's still alive.
  • The part where Sita reveals the truth to the Gonds about Ram's intentions, and how he was arrested for rescuing "his closest friend" because "he couldn't live with himself" after betraying him. Said closest friend is standing off to the side, looking like his whole world has just been turned upside down, and is overcome with guilt when he realizes that Ram really did care about him and is about to be executed because he left him to die.
