As fantastical as it sounds, the fact that this world is one where people don't know how to grow things themselves anymore or that it's even possible to do that. Potatoes seem to be the only thing growing naturally and even growing grass of good quality seems to be a far-fetched idea. Characters frequently note 'You grew them?' when the farmer hands them crops and flowers.
Laura and her memory disorder. She can't recall new things happening and keeps having to be told by Tristan what has happened, including that friends have moved out of Lebkuchen. Even if it's played almost like an odd little quirk of hers, the final scene of improving the state of Lebkuchen, Laura bursts into tears and she admits between sobs that as happy as she is, she's devastated that she won't remember it come tomorrow.
Continuing that scene, Tristan admits that he kind of envied Laura for her repeated forgetting because it meant she was able to forget previous failures and bad things happening. But when he sees that she's actually struggling and not happy, at all, he feels guilty for not thinking about how she actually felt.
