  • Welcome to a step-by-step guide to the various betting games in Khufu. For these lessons, you'll need the game set up in front of you and a handful of Treasure each to practice with. BETTING. In some instances, Khufu will play a game that requires a "wager" or "bet". Remember, if he has called on you for such a game but you don't have any Treasure, you can't play. Your turn passes clockwise to the next player on your left who does own Treasure. Now, let's practice placing a bet. Select a number of your own Treasures, lay them on the board and declare how many you are wagering. When you're ready, hit the "Next" button.
  • Uh-oh, bad luck! You lost the bet! Return your stake to the bottom of the deck of Treasure cards.
  • Now, place another bet.
  • Congratulations! You win! You've doubled your wager. Take back your stake, plus the same number of cards from the deck.
  • THE CHAMBERS. Each of the Chambers features a simple game of chance with a minimum wager. The minimum wager in the Servant's Chamber is 1 Treasure card. Put your piece inside the Servant's Chamber and place a bet by laying down 1 treasure.
  • Roll one of the number dice. If it's an odd number, you are a winner! Keep your wager and place your Scarab in the Chamber. If it's an even number, you lose your wager. Return your Treasure to the deck. If you still have at least 1 Treasure, you may stay in the Chamber on your next turn and play again.
  • Let's say you just won that one, place your Scarab in the Chamber if it isn't there already. Now, let's try your luck once more. Wager one more Treasure and roll again.
  • Your Scarab is already placed. So if you rolled an odd number this time, your reward is double your wager. This means you take back your 1 Treasure, plus take 1 Treasure card from the deck. In this way, you can use the Chambers to try and earn extra Treasure. But remember, it's always a gamble! And remember that you can go as high as you like each time, but you must wager at least the minimum. If you rolled an even number, you lose! Return your wager card to the deck.
  • Move your piece to the High-Priest's Chamber. The minimum wager here is 2 Treasures. Place a bet of 2 or more and roll one of the number dice.
  • If you rolled an even number, you are a winner! Keep your stake and place your Scarab in the Chamber. If it's an odd number, return your stake to the bottom of the deck.
  • Next, the Queen's Chamber, where the minimum wager is 3. Move your piece to the Queen's Chamber and place a bet of 3 or more.
  • Now, toss the Coin.
  • If it's Tails, you are a winner! Keep your wager and place your Scarab in the Chamber. If it's Heads, lose your wager!
  • And finally, the King's Chamber. Move your piece there and place your bet. The minimum wager here is 4.
  • So, choose 2 of the Treasures you've wagered and turn them face up.
  • Now, roll one of the symbol dice.
  • To win the game, the symbol on the dice must match one of your two Treasure cards. If there's a match, keep your stake and place your Scarab in the King's Chamber. If there's no match, sorry, you lose your stake!
  • Well, now that you're experts at the four tables in the Chambers, it's time to learn to play KHUFU'S ULTIMATE CHALLENGE. To win the game, you must beat Khufu in a round of pharoah-style poker. So, place your piece in the Chamber with Khufu's Sarcophagus, grab yourself a handful of about ten Treasures and we'll play a dummy round.
  • Now, to let Khufu know that you're ready to face the challenge, you will have first pressed the "Menu" or "Title" button on the remote control. Khufu's hand of 3 cards will now be displayed on-screen. Khufu's servant, "Lucky", he's the dealer. Choose another player to be "Lucky" in this example and hand them all your Treasure. They must shuffle and deal you 5 cards face up. Remember that you can take the challenge with as little as 3 Treasures in your hand. So if you have 5 or less, "Lucky" will only deal out as many as you have.
  • The aim is to create the strongest poker hand with the greatest number of matching symbols. So, choose the best 3 cards to be your hand and discard the other 2.
  • Okay, roll both of the symbol dice. And now, combine the two symbols on the dice with your 3 cards to make up your total hand of 5 symbols. And combine the same two dice symbols with Khufu's cards on-screen to make up his hand. The hand ranking, starting from the best, is: five of a kind, four of a kind, full house, three of a kind, two pairs, one pair, and no matches. The symbols don't have any value, so 5 Kings are equal to 5 Cats and so on. It's the number of matching symbols that counts. And the final result is simple: the best hand wins!
  • Compare your hand to Khufu's to see whose is the strongest. If your hand is best, choose the "Win" button and the game is over!
  • Let's say Khufu's hand is best; you have lost the challenge! Return your 3 cards to the deck, take your piece and move it across the board to the furthest Curse space, and select the "Lose/Draw" button. If both hands are equal, you're still not a winner, I'm afraid; it's a draw. Select the "Lose/Draw" button and again, go directly to the furthest Curse space. But this time, you can keep your 3 Treasures. And, of course, you can go back and play Khufu's Ultimate Challenge as many times as you like. Uh, before 45 minutes run out, that is! Now that you know the basics, you're ready to play the game! So, good luck!
