Gretchen hints that she might need a key to Jimmy's house. Jimmy misinterprets it as her wanting to take the next step in their relationship, but she insists that's not why she brought up the idea. Later, she has leave to smooth over Sam's latest PR blunder with regards to a remark he made to a gay reporter.
Jimmy sees a text from Ty while returning Gretchen's phone to her. He follows her to a bar expecting to see her on a date, but instead finds her at her birthday party, to which he was not invited. Becca and Vernon are there, forcing Gretchen to reveal her relationship with Jimmy, to Becca's horror. Returning to Jimmy's house, the two find Sam and the gay reporter are hooking up.
