As X-Cutioner shoots a bullet at Peter "Colossus" Rasputin, Rachel "Prestige" Grey uses her psychic powers to deflect it. She shoves it back at X-Cutioner but he survives thanks to his kevlar. He then opens fire at Grey, Rasputin, and Kitty "Shadowcat" Pryde, Sooraya "Dust" Qadir and Santo "Rockslide" Vaccarro radio in and report the explosives they found in the danger room. They need Pryde to phase through the electronic trigger and short it out. X-Cutioner gasses Grey to knock her out, but Vaccarro and Qadir convince Pryde that the bombs need her immediate attention. She gets away from X-Cutioner and phases away with Rasputin and Grey before leaving to defuse the bombs. When she reaches them, though, she finds the bombs can't be defused.

The angry mob continues to batter Kurt "Nightcrawler" Wagner until Old Man Logan and Ororo "Storm" Munroe arrive to drive them away. Logan finds that Wagner was very badly beaten and wonders how he even survived. Wagner says he did in fact die, then sighs that he can't go to Heaven because he escaped from there. Back at the mansion, Pryde says that the bombs are using biologic components that Tony Stark developed with help from DARPA. She can phase through and disrupt technology, but not biology. She tells the other two to evacuate the mansion while she fights X-Cutioner in the hope that he has a disarming key on him.

After the mansion is evacuated, Rasputin tries to go back inside to help Pryde, but Vaccarro tells him that he should stay outside since his powers still don't work. He adds that it would be crazy to go inside, but Rasputin says that he's not crazy—he's just Russian. He goes to help Pryde.

Outside Moscow, two criminals meet with several Hand ninjas and trade them the remains of Arkady "Omega Red" Rossovich. Back in Manhattan, Pryde takes a sword and goes to fight X-Cutioner. She notes that the mansion has big guns but she doesn't do guns; she's a ninja and so will use ninja-style weapons. She sees X-Cutioner about to kill another mutant and attacks him. The other mutant asks if she can help, and as Pryde yells at her to run, X-Cutioner hits her with a power dampener to prevent her from phasing. She notes that it's now a fair fight and uses her ninjutsu to dodge his bullets, then knocks his gun away with her blade. He draws his own knives and fights Pryde, but she is able to disarm him and knock off his helmet. He runs away and she chases him, but then he scoops up his dropped gun and Pryde realizes he wasn't trying to escape. He demands she drop her sword and she does before reminding him of the explosives. X-Cutioner says he doesn't care if he dies. Pryde then points out that she evacuated the mansion, but X-Cutioner says both she (the leader of the X-Men) and the mansion are symbols of mutantkind, and if he can destroy them both he'll be happy.

X-Cutioner vents that his wife and son were killed when the Xavier mansion fell on them, and argues that the mutants keep warring against each other without consideration for collateral damage. He demands to know how many 'evil mutants' Pryde has fought, and how many times she saved the world without bothering to think about the people the X-Men were trampling on as they did so. Pryde acknowledges that the X-Men haven't done enough to ameliorate or repair the damage they have caused, but points out that X-Cutioner's premeditated murder is far worse than anything the mutants have done. She tells him that he can kill her if he thinks his family would be good with that. He pauses for a moment, then shoots at her, but Rasputin jumps in front of her and takes the bullet to his shoulder. X-Cutioner aims as Pryde cradles Rasputin, but Vaccarro suddenly beats X-Cutioner down and says that next time Rasputin should let the bulletproof mutant take the bullet. Rasputin sighs that he just wanted to impress Pryde. Vaccarro then finds X-Cutioner's disarm key and Pryde triggers it, shutting down the bombs.

Days later, after Manhattan is freed from the Darkforce Dimension, Pryde thanks Detective Brett Mahoney for having X-Cutioner taken to jail. Pryde is then interrupted by Zully Garcia, a staffer working for Congressman Zelman. Garcia gives Pryde an invitation to testify on his subcommittee about a new bill: the "Mutant Deportation Act."
