"We all have things we keep hidden, sometimes keeping secrets is how you survive, because in high school, one rumor, one picture, one incident can define you, forever."

Clay's visions of Hannah, or Hannah's ghost, are causing problems for his burgeoning relationship with Skye. Skye is upset and insecure about Clay's fixation on his deceased crush. This is made all the worse due to him not being able to sleep with her. Later that evening, Clay and Skye have gone to Clay's parents house for dinner. The dinner itself goes well, even when Skye attempts to feel him up under the table however when they get to his bedroom, Clay keeps seeing Hannah. Skye bluntly asks him if he loves her to which he says yes. She then asks Clay to say he's over Hannah. Hannah is stood staring directly at him. He says no. Skye leaves, upset. Clay chases after her but sees an ambulance outside her house, taking her away. Skye's mother tells Clay that "she's not upset, just ill". Hannah watches the ambulance go and snarks that Clay picks complicated girls.

Courtney is the next person to take the stand at Hannah's trial. When the school's lawyer, Sonya questions Courtney about the photo taken with Hannah - the one of Hannah and Courtney kissing- Courtney admits that she is a lesbian. Courtney tells them that she came out to Hannah during that sleepover. Hannah had her own first kiss ruined by Justin's deception and decided to give Courtney her first real kiss. Despite Sonya outing Courtney publicly, she tells everyone that she feels free. She is shown at a lesbian-themed movie marathon with her two dads.

As Jessica is getting ready to testify, she continues to receive threatening messages to stay away from the trial and to keep quiet. She decides to investigate and see if any of the other girls' are getting threats. No one says anything.

Rick, the baseball coach, tells Mr Porter to give him a 'heads up' if he's worried about any of his team members. He prefers to deal with things in house.

After a few months in juvenile detention, Sheri returns to school. Her personality has hardened from the bright and happy girl to a cynical and snappy woman. Mr. Porter offers to set up a check-in session with her to which she declines. She does tell him that she'll come to him if she ever gets raped.

Clay researches into who the people in the Polaroid images could be. After asking Tyler, they appear to have been seniors when he and Tyler were freshmen in the school. They've now left the school but the boy in the photo was in the baseball team at one point. Clay asks Tyler if Scott Reed, the boy in the picture, knew them at all.

Meanwhile, Olivia has an incident back at home. Her friend, Jackie has accidentally washed the dress that Hannah died in. Olivia screams at her to leave and instead asks Tony to come around. Tony appears to be keeping back information again but it's not shown what. Hannah's father, Andy is notably absent.

Alex receives a menacing message of a cut-out silhouette from the gun range. "Better Luck Next Time" is written on it. Alex is still having trouble remembering anything before the tapes or what was on them.
