What was once a normal day turned into a strange living nightmare as Augustine Sycamore finds himself in the middle of the streets with only a smartphone and a black skull pin in his belongings. Once he got a text from a mysterious group called "Reapers", he found himself in a game filled with monstrous versions of Pokemon exists.
This arc provides examples of:
- Big Damn Heroes: Augustine is quickly saved by a mysterious man in a black hooded jacket when he was surrounded by Froakie Noise.
- Closed Circle: Augustine finds himself trapped in Lumiose City with only Rouge Plaza and Autumnal Avenue opened up to him right from the start.
- First Arc Twist: Day 1 ends with Augustine learning that he was already dead prior to the events of the story.
- Good Morning, Crono: How the story starts for Augustine. Problem is that rather than waking up in his room, he wakes up in front of the Lumiose Station.
- Tempting Fate: Augustine tries to turn to a stranger who has the same hand timer as him, but he quickly pushes him away and tells him to become Noise food already. A few seconds later, he ends up becoming one thanks to a Froakie Noise behind him.
